I am making superhero capes as a fundraiser for a half marathon I am training for in December as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training (TNT).The capes are handmade and personalized with your child’s initial. TNT raises money to fund research into finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. Since 1988, TNT has raised over $800 million for research, patient aid programs and community outreach programs.

Every five minutes, someone in America is diagnosed with a blood cancer. Every ten minutes someone in America dies from a blood cancer. In 1992, these numbers became more than just numbers for me. That was the year my mother, Helen Parker, lost her battle with a blood cancer called myelodysplasia (MDS). Through TNT I found a way to honor the memory of my mother while helping fund research and programs that will help those diagnosed with blood cancers. I am completing this event in memory of my mother and in honor of four individuals, Marie Cardinal (39), Calli Merkel (24), Stephanie Reynolds (28), and Alex Agnor (23), who are currently battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
